BAND OF BACHELORS: LUCAS by Sharon Hamilton
Series: Band of Bachelors #1
Genres: Military Romance
Special Operator Lucas Shipley thought his living arrangement was temporary, since getting booted from the house by his wife. He sleeps on a couch in the apartment with four other divorced Navy SEALs, thinking he’ll get the call to come home any day. He ignores the not-so-helpful advice his buddies are giving him about marriage, women and romance. Until he gets served with divorce papers.
Realtor Marcy Gelland is hired by Lucas’ soon-to-be ex-wife to liquidate all their real estate holdings and help her orchestrate a speedy departure from Lucas’ life. Based on what the hot-headed SEAL wife has told her, Marcy understands Lucas deserves every ounce of pain coming his way.
But when Marcy and Lucas are left alone together in the remote Northern California woods, they ignite a personal bonfire that threatens to burn down the whole forest. Marcy is forced to see she is wrong about Lucas.
Amidst the backdrop of hardened bachelor SEALs with their unsolicited, anti-long-term relationship advice, and a terrorist training camp operating nearby, Lucas must do what he’s always done: be the hero and save the day. But will it be in time to save Marcy?
I love a Navy SEAL!! Lucas is not having a good month! He honestly thought that his wife was going to ask him to come back home but I have to tell you if I was married to Connie I wouldn’t want to come back home. When Connie decides to serve him with divorce papers and then sell all of the houses that he owns he meets Marcy. Marcy has been forewarned about Lucas. Connie has told her all about his charming ways but right from the start Marcy sees tings might not add up. First Connie wants to sell two pieces of property that was Lucas’ prior to marriage and he doesn’t want to sell.
Marcy goes up to a hunting that the couple owns so she can appraise it only Lucas has decided to get away for the weekend. Things get heated between them and they spend most of the weekend together. Which would have been great except Lucas is called in for a mission. That is the beginning of things spiraling downhill. Everything that could go wrong does, starting with Connie finding out about Marcy and Lucas. Then Lucas is an a**, Marcy loses her job, there is a kidnapping, a rescue, you know just another day in the life of a Navy SEAL!
The story is great and although I wanted to punch Lucas a couple of times he is a great guy. Marcy is wonderful and even though she is thrown into new waters she handles herself well. The other Navy SEALS are funny and a great supporting cast although Devon and the Navy Women’s Soccer Team seem to be the only great women. The others are witches!! There were a couple of things that bothered me and that is why I only gave it 4.5 stars. First, I REALLY wanted to Connie get hers! I mean this witch deserved it in the worst sort of way. She is a horrible person and an even worst mother. Second, Lucas doesn’t see his children the entire book. I know it is because Connie won’t let him but that bothered me. He does want to see them because he mentions them. All in all though it is a great read!
