First and Only (Callaghan Brothers, #2)My Rating:

First and Only by Abbie Zanders
Series: Callaghan Brothers #2
Genres: Military Romance

You never forget your first love.

Lexi O’Connell has secretly been in love with Ian Callaghan for more than ten years. So when she returns to Pine Ridge and he turns those sexy crystal blue eyes her way, she doesn’t have a hope of resisting, even if she knows it can only be for one night.

Even if it will break her heart. Because while she would know him anywhere, he doesn’t even recognize her.

Ian Callaghan is mischievous, playful, and irresistible to women. When he sets his sights on the attractive young woman who has been discreetly staring at him, he doesn’t think twice about seducing her.

It wasn’t supposed to be more than one night. And falling in love with her was definitely not part of the plan.

A few days is all Ian needs to know that Lexi is The One. His croie. His soul mate. And he doesn’t understand how she can just walk away.

But what Ian doesn’t understand might just kill her.

WARNING: Due to strong language and steamy scenes of a sexual nature, this book is intended for mature (18+) readers only.

This book may be unsuitable for people under 17 years of age due to its use of sexual content, drug and alcohol use, and/or violence.

You may remember that Ian Callaghan is the brother that runs the pub with Jake. Ian and Jake are a lot a like in many ways (both are hot, sexy as sin, and players although Jake isn’t any longer) so them working and living together works. Ian is the also the family’s computer guru. Ian meets Alexis (Lexi) O’Connell on a bus ride home where he is returning from a mission to attend the funeral of a close family friend. He is immediately taken with her and  as they part way he’s asks her have dinner with him. So he sees her safely to her motel where he quickly devises a plan to see her again very soon.

The big catch is that Ian doesn’t realize that Alexis isn’t actually a stranger he met on a bus. Nope, she was friends with his brother Kieran when she was nothing more than a scrawny, nervous 14-year-old. She has also been hopelessly in love Ian for the past 10 years. It really stung Lexi knowing that although she has never thought of another man except Ian he didn’t even know who she was. So when Ian turns up unannounced Lexi decides to just go for it and make a fantasy come true.  Ian wakes alone after a night of incredible passion and is late for the funeral of his father’s best friend. Who by the way happens to be Lexi’s father! Ian got informed by his father that he is to keep Kayla, his father’s friend’s step-daughter and Ian’s ex hook from making a scene. To make matters worse for Ian because spending the entire day with Kayla is like having his skin peeled he sees and realizes who Lexi is.

I would love to tell you that things go all sunny and rosy from there but well not even in a perfect world. Lexi’s keeping a big secret that comes out at the wrong moment. One that makes Ian’s brother Micheal want to punch him then Lexi goes and manages to keep another secret (or two) that her friend Adian has to step in and take control of. Ian is all alpha male but he also has a sweetness to him that we really get to see more in this book. There is a lot of pain and heartache and I really wished someone had backhanded Kayla during the funeral because I want to rip out that witch’s hair.   One thing I can tell you is that each one of these books is better than the last and by the end deciding which one of them wonderful men are your favorite will keep you up at night.

About Abbie Zanders

Abbie Zanders is a wife and mother of three (including a set of identical twins), born and raised in the mountains and valleys of Northeastern Pennsylvania. She has a degree in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. Though she has spent the last 25+ years developing financial software for healthcare-based companies, she has also held second jobs as a pub waitress, a restaurant dessert baker, a secretary, and a bread shelf stock girl.

Hobbies and interests include romance novels (all genres), 80’s hair bands and heavy metal, muscle cars, and really big dogs.

A voracious reader, she carries both a Nook and a Kindle with her at all times, as well as several mini-sized notebooks to jot down ideas when inspiration strikes. Writing is a life-long pursuit; it began somewhere in elementary school when she used to secretly draft scripts for then-popular TV shows, writing herself in as a main character, of course. Things have changed a lot since then – she now focuses on love stories for mature audiences – but her passion for writing remains the same.

She is both grateful and honored to be able to share her stories with those having a similar penchant for love stories, and promises her readers two things: no cliffhangers, and always happily ever afters.
