Judging By the Cover

Dont Judge A Book

We are all familiar with that saying, aren’t we? We know that we shouldn’t do it and to be honest there have been some amazing books that I have read over the years that have had truly boring covers. The problem is that we do judge books by their covers. The cover is the one thing that grabs our attention.

Especially when you read romance books! Those covers can actually tell an avid read a lot. Just by looking at the cover you can tell if it is a historical book or something a bit more risqué. The cover draws you in and makes you want to read the synopsis. The cover allows you to get the best idea of what the characters could look like. Think about it for a second, all those cowboy romance novels we read (okay I read) wouldn’t be so appealing if the guy on the front wasn’t the epitome of a sexy cowboy. It would be like reading Chancer. Not that I above reading that. I just like a juicy romance more.

I don’t know about any of you but the only time I don’t pay much attention to a cover is when it is a book written by an author that I truly enjoy or a part of a series. Other than that I spend a good hour (or more…..I’m not telling the amount of time or money spent) going through the romance section of Barnes and Noble or Amazon and searching for my next book to read.  The cover makes the whole book worthwhile.

How often do you read a book because you like the cover?
