The Wedding Pact by Katee Robert
Series: The O’Malley Series #2
Genres: Contemporary Romance
Carrigan O'Malley has always known her arranged marriage would be more about power and prestige than passion. But after one taste of the hard-bodied, whiskey-voiced James Halloran, she's ruined for anyone else. Too bad James and his family are enemy number 1.
Hallorans vs. O'Malleys—that's how it's always been. James should be thinking more about how to expand his family's empire instead of how silky Carrigan's skin is against his and how he can next get her into his bed. Those are dangerous thoughts. But not nearly as dangerous as he'll be if he can't get what he wants: Carrigan by his side for the rest of their lives.
WOW! This was a powerful read! Carrigan works hard to fight her attraction to James but when attraction is that scorching there really isn’t anything you can do about it but let it consume you. Carrigan’s family is all about business and her parents use their children as pawns. They have no consideration of what the children need or want and I am telling you I wanted to slap her mother in the worst way. Carrigan has a month to decide who to marry from a list of possible business alliances as dictated by her family. Charming right? Carrigan is a strong woman but lets face it there is only so much she can take mentally and family must always come first.
James is working hard to not be the ruthless man who his father is and when he becomes the head of the family he is willing to do whatever it takes to take care of his family. Then he kidnaps Carrigan and her sister-in-law and well things are different. He knows that they could both end up dead if either of their families find out but he can’t stop himself. The chemistry these to have is so scorching! Not to mention even though they know that this is set up as doomed James will not give up on Carrigan. He loves her and her family be damned as far as he is concerned.
I found myself hoping and praying that they end up together and happy. I was enthralled from page one and couldn’t put this book down. There is more than enough other players in this for there to be plenty of future books and I for one can’t wait to find out what happens next in this series.
